The ‘Magic of the Cup’ will be elevated this year with a new video podcast for the Australia Cup.

Football Australia (FA) want to treat fans to a new style of coverage by bringing together the next generation of football creators to tell the stories of the 2022 Australia Cup through five episodes looking forward to each fixture from the Round of 32 to the Grand Final.

I Want It Yesterday have utilised their premium video podcast studio in Sydney to create a full length audio-only show for all listening platforms, as well as a full-length video show, social cutdowns in all vertical formats and cultural pieces to sit within the program as segments and highlight the unique tradition of some of Australia’s oldest football clubs.

The ‘Magic of the Cup’ video podcast will be hosted by Claudio Fabiano, while featuring some of I Want It Yesterday’s extensive talent network such as Adamo De Nigris, Kat Sasso, Daniel Olaniran, Kat Haddad and many more. They’ll be joined by current & former NPL/A-Leagues players in a light-hearted, yet educational preview of all the biggest names and potential hidden gems that will be in action during Australia’s biggest knockout sports competition

Head of Podcasting at I Want It Yesterday, Nicholas Sherbinski, said “there’s a level of passion and dedication that you get from podcast listeners that’s not dissimilar to that of football fans. We’ve tested the best way to bring premium video & social media amplification into the podcasting scene, and can’t wait to help bring this expertise to a sport and competition that is so important to all of us.

I Want It Yesterday’s Creative Director, Joey Ferrone, feels that this is an opportunity to play a huge part in the growth and development of the game - “Over 750 clubs participated in this competition this year, and most of the creators in our office took part in the opening rounds of this massive tournament. We feel as though many of the real stories of the Australia Cup and our grassroots football leaders, on & off the park, haven’t been shared yet, and this new show will help shine the light on them for once, all the while speaking to a younger audience who love football.”

The first episode is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 and will feature special guests, a complete preview of the Round of 32 & a special feature on a club with almost 75 years of footballing history in Victoria, Heidelberg United FC.

You’ll be able to catch that one, and every other episode on all of Football Australia’s platforms, wherever you get your podcasts, and be sure to keep an eye out on I Want It Yesterday’s socials for special sneak peeks.
